Sidebar: I've removed the dresden gradient from the equation because that's not quite what I had in mind for this particular project (though thanks to everyone's encouragement it's definitely on the wish {wait} list).
And to the extent context is helpful, there will still be a gradient involved (it'll just be not-so-gray), and I'll be replacing the square blocks in a traditional pattern with these diamond blocks. Lots of them.
Now, which (if either) would catch your eye scattered in a queen king size quilt?
Thanks, friends!
P.S. For those of you who've taken the time to comment the past week I wanted to let you know I am totally smitten with your kind words and am thrilled to say I'll be doing much more sewing+email catch-up (and a little less toddler-chasing) in the very near future :)
P.P.S. Linking up with Lee!
P.P.S. Linking up with Lee!
Obviously you need both! Mixed in with other common diamond stone shapes. :D Diamond, teardrop, etc. :)
ReplyDeleteI am with Anne. I couldn´t decide which one to get rid off. They are both so gorgeous!!!
ReplyDeleteOMG. YOu are mad. But they are gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteMy husband always knows what I'm going to say when asked which diamond I would choose .. I always say both! (followed by pretty pleeeease? - lol)
ReplyDeletevisiting from WIP Wednesday. I don't know which one you would choose, they are AMAZING.
ReplyDeleteI can't decide either - although I love the round one slightly more I think? This is going to be a stupendous quilt you talented thing!
ReplyDeleteOh they are both just stunning! But I think the round one sparkles just a little more ;)
ReplyDeleteWow, just wow! I agree... when in doubt choose both! That is just gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteStopping by from the WIP hop http://domesticdeficitdisorder.blogspot.com/2013/08/wednesday-wip-august-14th-edition.html
Round!
ReplyDeleteBoth are fantastic, but I think the round one works better.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see what you do.
wow, those look complex!
ReplyDeleteI like round better but I do love them both ;) You need to teach me how to paperpiece - seriously clueless over here! Can't wait to see your project, girl!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness you are so talented! I love reading your posts because you always inspire me to try something new! I love both of them! I think I like the round one a little more though because I feel like it is more unique. I think both would be lovely though. I cannot wait to see what you choose:)
ReplyDeleteI like the round one slightly better -- but they're both great! I'm tempted to give them a try myself, even though I've only paper pieced once ...
ReplyDeleteLove them both, but if i had to choose... round it is!
ReplyDeleteI agree with everyone above, they are both amazing! And this kind of madness is right up my alley, so I can't wait to see where it goes. : ) Thanks for linking up!
ReplyDeleteBoth incredible but there is something about that round block that is mind-blowingly-beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThis is a hard choice!! I love both, and they each have their own 'Sparkle' yet different from each other. Fantastic designs and amazing piecing skills can't wait to see more!
ReplyDeleteThe round one caught my eye immediately. Very cool.
ReplyDeleteOh I noticed I hope you get a real diamond bigger than that one!
ReplyDeleteI like the round diamonds best - but so much work!
ReplyDeleteQueen-sized??! Whoa... round for me. :)
ReplyDeleteRound would be my choice if you want only one stone.
ReplyDeleteI think I am the only one, but I like the square better - both are gorgeous (and slightly mad) though.
ReplyDeleteLike everyone else, I think they both look amazing. Forced to choose one, I think I like the round one best, though. Can't wait to see what you end up making with them!
ReplyDeleteI love both, but if I had to choose. I would choose round.
ReplyDeleteBoth great! If I had to pick I think a whole quilt with the round ones would be amazing.
ReplyDeleteBoth are incredible but I'd pick the round :)
ReplyDeleteYou have gone off the deep end ;) but I like the squares. I like the thin little strips that change the tones of the diagonal pieces.
ReplyDeleteI still think there's a spelling mistake ;-)
ReplyDeleteBoth look pretty cool but the square one looks more like a star to me than diamond. I'm missing some simple shape in the middle if you know what I mean. The flat top of the diamond. BTW all kind of shapes would be pretty cool on quilt. You go girl!
ReplyDeleteAnd the square one rocks my socks, too. Could you do both? Or if they are not working for you, my address is.... :-)
ReplyDeleteThey are both very interesting but I must say I do like the round one best. Really looking forward to seeing the quilt when it is made.
ReplyDeleteObsessed with the gorgeous tiny-osity of these :)
