Somehow, half a year has gone by and once again it's time for Sew Mama Sew's semi-annual Giveaway
Much like last time, I've grouped together another trio of favorites. Think of it as a trifecta of sorts: fat (or skinny) sixteenths+ of 21 jewel-toned liberty and oakshott fabrics, plus a miniature arsenal of neutral 50wt aurifil in 2024, 2021, 2000, and 2325 (that gracious Mr. Veronelli slipped in a few extras and I couldn't help but share my good fortune).
You might recognize some of those liberty tana lawns. That's because I just gave away a FQ set on behalf of the lovely folks at Massdrop. And guess what? ReplyDeleteNot sure if your giveaway is international but I have to tell that PP is not my fav thing since there is no room for twisting the pattern. The only thing you can do differently is your fabric choice and that is not enough, lol.

It's really satisfying to know you created something entirely by hand without the use of a machine. I think you have more control and accuracy when piecing small bits by hand.

ReplyDeleteI LOVE paper piecing. I can sew all kinds of complex blocks. But I don't like removing the paper or unpicking mistakes (tip: sew with a larger stitch first and then if all is well, go over it with a small stitch (back stitching at both ends). Sewing over it twice also helps paper removal much easier later on!).

I just learned how (as in I taught myself last weekend) and while I love some things about it, I dislike many of the things people make with paper piecing. I'm happy to add it to my tool box though! I think I just need to do more of it and SEE more of it.

I am new to paper piecing, i'm loving the effect and trialling several cheap papers to see which is the easiest to work with.

ReplyDeleteI love to have a paper-piecing project for travel. Easy to carry in a plastic bag, Easy to work on in the car or before bed. I was working on hexes this winter and they showed up as modules in my senior design project. I got an A. I love paper piecing.
